What exactly are you trying to figure out; why there is a market for cargo pants?

THanks for the replies guys. I guess I am just trying to figure out if the cargo pockets get put to use in an off duty role.

    Ok, I'll bite.

Why does a cargo pocket make for a poor appearance?

How many folks actually put stuff in there?
I work in EMS and carry clean gloves in the left pocket, and store any blood/piss soaked ones in the right until I either get to a Hospital or off scene and can toss them out.

Outside of work, I wear cargo pants because I hate carrying a wallet, phone, and tourniquet anywhere I can sit on them and keep my pockets empty for my car keys and hands.

I use mine for anything that I need to put in them. I use them both on and off-duty. For me pants are like phones, computers, houses, and vehicles; the more storage space, the better.

I carry two phones. Leaves the regular pockets free for keys and wallet.

The onus is on you all to explain why one should wear cargo pants - not on him for why he doesn't want to look like a has-been.

M4C represents a very narrow spectrum of society - most are older guys that are married, work in LE or related fields, and live in rural environments.

Be the 20-something guy walking down Biscayne in Miami looking for a restaurant to eat at while wearing cargo pants on a Saturday and you'll quickly realize why cargo pants are awkward looking at best.

But a lot of guys never do that. Hence the disparity. Cargo pants in such environments scream weirdo (if you care about such things - most do not, I do) and present a safety threat especially when coupled with Oakley boots and a riggers belt. (A smart BG would make sure hes getting one in the head before shit even goes down)

ETA I wrote this in a hurry without a tone of "superiority" or any such thing even though it may seem like it - so if you read it that way I apologize in advance. It's meant solely from a questioning mindset.
