Can't believe nobody's called BS on this one......

the hell with +P+, ......IPSC shooters were running 9mm MAJOR for years with no problem (I'm one of them)
+P+ is no where near as hot as 9mm major

something was plain wrong with that ejector if shooting 9mm+P+ bent it I can't understand how. I've seen poorly heat treated ejectors peen slightly but bent?

doesn't matter much how fast or slow the slide is moving once that case touches the ejector it should slip out from the extractor and fly away, there's nothing touching it except an empty case......think about it!?
there's no real solid contact for any length of time to bend it?

would love to see a pic.

Perhaps the ejector and or the extractor was not fitted properly. Sometimes a magazine bearing up against the ejector can cause problems. After I take the pistol to my gun smith who is a 1911 specialist, I'll have more information.

I will be very interested in reading about what he says. I run a Colt .38 super, usually with lower PF factory and handloads. I have shot some 165 PF loads with no issues but this isn't recommended due to the stock Colt barrel not having full support. That, to me, is the main issue with over pressure ammo.

Easy to diagnose the mag/ejector issue:
Pull side, insert magazine (fully, with upward pressure- as you would slamming home a mag change), see if the mag contacts the nose of ejector.

Forgot to add- the extractor should have no bearing on a "bent ejector".

I'm sure you know this, but also check fired cases to see if any of them are bulged near the extractor groove in the cases.

Case was not recovered since I was along a river bank in high grass. My gunsmith, who has not yet seen the pistol, told me that sometimes a bent ejector will occur if the slide closes on a case not completely ejected from the pistol. I assume he meant slide closing an empty case and the next round to be chambered. Our conversation was over the phone so I may not have understood his explanation. I agree after reading here and rethinking the event that +P+ or high pressure ammo did not cause the event. Previously I had fired about 1200 rounds of white box type ammo with zero problems. The pistol was bought new and is unmodified.
The bend is a "beautiful" curve with the ejector's tip against the slide.

Is it just me or does there seem to be multiple instances of Colt 9mm ejectors failing as of recent? I just picked up a Colt gov 9mm, so I am becoming concerned about this issue. Other recent instances of this happening seem to point to magazines as the cause.

OP- what magazines are you using?

Most likely due to magazine used. There was a recent thread on 1911 forum talking about this specific topic.

Wilson ETMs are mainly the issue due to no clearance between ejector / mag, and the mag slamming right into it.

Take the slide out, put the mag in, and take a look.
