    6.5 Grendel Build

So I always wanted to use my AR for hunting deer but didn't feel 5.56 was ideal. I had read a lot about the 6.5 Grendel and I finally bought everything to build an upper. I will list below what I used for the build. The first pic was right after the build. It has a Magpul magazine and Redfield scope on the gun but I have since moved to other products. The pic with the buck is not a good one but that shows the setup now.

    Aero Precision upper receiver
    Odin Works 18" bbl
Odin Works 15.5" MLOK FF rail
Odin Works adjustable gas block & gas tube
    Odin Works BCG
    Manticore Arms NightBrake Comp
    Warns steel rings
    YKM rail
    Vortex PST 4-16x50mm SFP scope
    Alexander Arms magazines

So, have you shot it much and what's your thought on the 6.5? I'm seriously thinking of swapping barrels to a 6.5.

I really like the Grendel. It's good for huntin and for long range shooting. It has less recoil and weighs less than AR-10s but has similar ballistics. I have killed 2 deer and 2 hogs with it this year and put about 150 through it at the range. I wish that I would have built one years ago. Check out the 6.5 Grendel forum for more info. Hope this helps.

Thanks bud. That's what I hear from everyone. I think this will be my next build. I will mainly hunt deer and hogs in central and South Texas and would like something with a little more punch.

No problem. The round I've used with great results is the Hornady 123gr SST. Here's a couple more pics.

SST's are hard to beat. Nice.
