Longtime Beretta freak, just purchased a M9A3 and need info on optimal can for that platform.

Optimal for what? I don't think it's different than any other silencer purchase... list the priorities and go from there.

    Unless I'm completely missing something.

Optimal in the quietist, lightest, can that interfaces with the M9A3 without piston devices ect.
Just screw on and shoot, It my understanding that Beretta did not do it's homework when
they released this pistol and not everything works.

I'm sure you need a piston in 1/2x28 for this. Lightest may not lend itself to being the quietest, as the weight is reduced by reducing the size of the can.
I like my Griffin Armament Rev 9 in the k config. Alpha Dog 9 also is a quiet and solid can. SiCo Omega 9k (not user serviceable) looks great, though I have no experience with it. Same for the Rugged Obsidian and Dead Air Ghost.
I've used the Alpha Dog 9 on a Beretta 96 with a Gemtech 9mm threaded barrel. They worked well together.

Silencerco Omega 9K with a fixed barrel 1/2x28 Omega mount.

Also interested if anyone has run a rugged on their m9a3.

I'm already locked into the rugged but I don't need an m9a3 if it's not going to work.

    Berettas don't need pistons?
If it has a piston, you still just screw it on and shoot.

It depends. In theory, the Beretta will likely cycle reliability with lighter cans. Some people still recommend the Nielsen device for optimal reliability.
