    Windham Weaponry 7.62x39 SRC

I purchased a 7.62x39 Windham SRC. Why? Because I have several 5.56x45 AR15's, a couple of 7.62x51 AR10's and am working on a 6.5 Grendel build, so I figured why not. Plus, I have AK's chambered in 5.56x45, so why not go the other way? I ended up paying $654.11 after the transfer. The quality of the rifle looks very good. It has a chrome lined bore and the fit/finish is top rate. Of course the performance is what really matters, so we'll see.

I have three different magazines to try in it. The one on the left is the Windham factory D&H. It was a beast to load and doesn't look as solid as their 5.56x45 magazines, but we'll see. It definitely looks like it could have used another weld along the top of the front. The second is an old USA magazine that I literally purchased in 1994 before the AWB went in to effect. The last one is a Ross and Zheng that's supposed to run several different cartridges. Any feedback on 7.62x39 magazines is appreciated.

The curvature (or lack thereof) of those mags looks like a very likely feed failure.

I'll report back. It loaded 25rds with no problem. I hope it works. If so, I plan on trying with my 6.5 Grendel build as well.

I have a number of the 20 round USA mags pictured in the center as well as 6 or 7 of the 30 rounders. No malfunctions to date and the only ones I have found that worked well with my Colt 16".

That's good to hear. I have two 30rd USA mags still in the original packaging. I'm not going to break one out unless the 20rd version runs 100%.

I use CPD magazines in my AR47. I've heard good things about ASC too.

Good looking rifle Bret. I am curious to hear how it performs.

Thanks. I'm going to put a Mepro M21 on it and (hopefully) take it to the range this week.

Not a bad price on the WW rifle. I'm thinking of just buying a complete x39 upper instead of the rifle. I've seen a few for under $400 with the BCG and CH and I can just slap that on top of one of my AR lowers. This is more cost-saving since I can build complete lowers for $150.
