My recent Wilson Combat 1911 came in something similar, seemed to have a film lubricant coating but I didn't keep it.
I plan to contact them to determine if it was treated for storage of metal.

I have some of them for SHTF storage of documents, they are heavy gauge with solid zips. The larger/largest size could hold a full size semi auto, maybe just wrap it in an oiled rag and burp the excess air out.

Consult http://theruststore.com Also, Barricade, a spray from Birchwood Casey, is sold on line and in box stores. It's time tested and has an excellent corrosion prevention record. Rig Gun Grease is another decades old inhibitor with a wonderful record. I have used both. Of course, if you live in a dry climate, half the battle is won anyway.

OP, I kind of have the same scenario as you.

I've wanted to try one of these:

I'm not sure it's meant to be left outside all the time, though.

Thanks for the link to theruststore, I've been having problems with my CZ mags rusting (I usually carry a reload) and have been having problems with the spare starting to rust on the outside, I just bought a 4oz bottle of Boeshield, hopefully this does the trick..

Thanks to you and the others for the good advice, especially the link to the rust store. I'll give Barricade a try. Good idea on a small pelican case -that idea was so obvious.

Earlier this afternoon I pulled the .44 out of the UTV front storage and killed a fat water mocassin down by a low water crossing I was working on. Crawled up to sun right where I had dropped off some posts. Tried to get it with a shovel but it got under the posts. Shotshell load got him when I moved the posts back.

Got a pile of them. Holstered pistol gets in the way doing physical work.
