Tech Gurus, need a power bank recommendation please.

    Hey gang,

I need a recommendation for a power bank so I can charge my phone while at a convention without being stuck to an outlet.

Something I can find on amazon for around $40 max would probably do the trick. I just don't know enough about them to know good from junk. I figure I'll need 2-3 charges out of it.

    Thanks,
    Big A.

Ok, I've got an El Camino full of rampage here, so what's the plan?

Find out what your phone capacity is and then multiple by three to find out the size you need. There are various features that increase or decrease costs, but I can get 5 charges on my 3660 mAh phone battery with a 20,000 mAh power bank. Get one that can charge from two sources to decrease your charging time of the bank itself, and find one that has a charge indicator on it. I liked my power bank that has traveled to and FROM ALASKA committing for my flying job. The same power bank has survived in my flight bag for over a year now. I like it. I wish it had two charge ports for the bank itself though.

I had a nice one a few years ago that got lost. Had several adapter cords on it for various phones/devices. The best thing about it was one side was a solar panel. I could leave it exposed to the sun and it would top off the charge and it limited the times I needed to actually plug it in. Neat but lost it. Had to be careful on hot days not to overheat it in direct sunlight.

I eventually gave up on the little charge bank/sticks and bought this. I highly recommend if you have an iPhone.

Works great. I can charge my phone over night, take it off at about 4:30 am and run all that first day and until about 18:00 to 19:00 the following day.

Has 1 lightning port to use iPhone charger and charges both the case and phone at the same time. Seems to deplete case first and then phone.

The screen left of the home screen tells you charge status of both the case and phone.

Anker is an excellent brand for battery packs and cables.

If you get this form factor and bank, get the Qualcomm charger for faster charges from bank to device.

    Take a look at this Anker E1, 5200mAh: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-bar-Siz...Anker+Astro+E1

It's a little shorter than a double stack pistol magazine, and will fit in soft pouches for same. I've found them true to rated capacity, charging my iphone ~3 times and a little more. No issues with heat or draining. Recharges quickly. TSA and security checkpoint friendly. Available in several colors. Inexpensive.

I have two Ankers. They work great and I always travel with one.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one
