Hot barrel has melted stuff stuck on it

    Hey all

Two weeks ago I took my LE6920 to the range and shoot a few hundred rounds through it getting it nice and hot. Now I'm not sure what did it but could it be the remoil wipes I used to wipe it down (including the hot barrel, stupid I know)? It's either that or some of the rubber from the relay point I shot from. IMG_1521.jpg

There is a pic of what it looks like. I tried picking some off with my nails but it takes forever and I also sprayed some bore brite and break free bore cleaner on it and scrubbed a little more off. Heating it with a hair dryer didn't work. What gives? Should I shoot it again and just hope it melts off?

I'd just run it. It is not going to hurt anything.

I know the gun will shoot just fine but this "film" looks downright ugly on my barrel. The wipes are teflon, I'm just wondering if it is in fact the wipes and if it'll eventually come off.

It's now an excuse to Krylon your gun .

If you shoot it more and attempt to wipe it off, it should do the trick if it is, in fact, something that has melted to it in the first place.

If it isn't something that melted on what else could it be?

Almost anything. Hit it with some marker and call it a day. .

Try Goof off. It might work and if it doesn't, you'll probably find something else to use it on. Otherwise, just shoot, enjoy and not worry about it.

Had a buddy wasn't thinking, put his very hot AR into it's case, melted the sh$@ all over his barrel.

The stuff was like a hard plastic, not rubbery or greasy

    Eventually got hot, wore off.

Maybe call it a day with the Rem Oil and try something else.
