    Surefire scout and thorntail mount

Interesting fact about a sure fire scout with remote switch and a thorntail mount:

If the tail cap makes contact with said mount it will complete the circuit as if the remote has been pressed.

I put a piece of electrical tape between the two and solved the problem. I also rotated the tail cap so that I wouldn't be close to making contact anymore.

Interesting. Kind of reminds me of a "feature" included with the original G2 lights where if you pressed on the tailcap, not the rubber switch but the hard plastic cap, sideways it would activate the light. Not great for light discipline but it was a lot easier to do that than use the actual switch. Sort of a poor man's Inforce. I liked those lights.

If you had a traditional scout light it wouldn't be an issue.

My SF scout light is an older one (LED but pre-ultra) and it came with a clicky tail cap and also one like this.

I added an SR07 remote switch later and have never had a problem. I suspect this type of tail cap would eliminate your problem because it would align the plug with the body of the light and move it slightly away from the mount.

I have had similar problems with these mount and surefire lights.

The mount will touch the tailcap.
