    Rifle RE 6061

    Hey all,

I am starting to piece together parts for a second lower and I am debating about going with an ACE stock with the tube and other parts sourced from BCM. I noticed that in the description from Bravo, it states that it is 6000 series aluminum.

Considering the Mil-Spec carbine and A5 tubes are 7075-T6, I guess I assumed that the rifle RE's would have been 7075-t6 as well. I am guessing because it is on a non collapsible stock it is not an issue?

    Just curious why the difference.

Thank you for pointing out that Bravo Company has finally admitted that their rifle receiver extensions are not "Mil-Spec".

Not long ago if you emailed them asking weather their rifle receiver extensions were 7075 or 6061 they would just email back that they are "Mil-spec".

This means that Colt is the only game in town for 7075 aluminum rifle receiver extensions.

It shouldn't be an issue. You're as likely to crack the wrist of a wood stock as bend a 6061 tube.

I would be more concerned about possibly stripping the threads for the upper stock screw than bending the tube itself.

If you torque it properly, this is a non-issue. About 40 in-lbs.

I have never actually used a torque screwdriver on the stock screws but if I did 40 in-lbs sounds about right.

    WTF?
If true, that's definitely not cool.
    Mil-spec implies milspec.

Where did you see confirmation that BCM uses 6061 for their REs?

    https://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Mils...milspec-re.htm
Both these explicitly state 7075 T6

EDIT: Damn it, just saw you were talking about RIFLE receiver extensions.
    My bad!!!!!!!!

I have a BCM rifle RE and I happen to have a ACE stock installed on it. The coating is a glossy anodization which is very smooth in operation and makes it easier to slide the foam on (which is notoriously difficult without lube or compressed air). I like the setup but wish the ACE stock had a better sling mounting solution, like a QD socket. Overall, it's strong and lightweight.

As for not being Mil-spec, that is a bit concerning but not overly-concerning. I thought the price was excellent and the Colt kit was going for like $100??? so I thought WTH.
