    used to have a friend who m16'd one of the PA's back in 1982. reminds me of Nesard/Sendra Purple Lowers

    It was not uncommon for guys to have these lowers, as well as pre-1986 SP1 lowers, converted to full-auto.

    of course people did form 1's on SP1's because some of the dealers back then were selling factory m16's for $50 more than converting them. My dealer/shop I worked at was doing the conversion for $300 including the stamp where as the standard m16 new costed $350 with tax. I was too broke and my local CLO wanted re-election funds ($80) to sign you off for it, only did it for a HK G3

    Also by the early 80s if you were a Colt LE dealer, part of the agreement is you wouldn't sell factory guns to private citizens. It was legal, but you'd never get another rifle from Colt again. HK enacted a similar practice around the same time.

    What does the other side of the upper look like? What forge marks are there? What markings are there on the barrel?
