After the Randy Weaver stand-off, how any judge still allows these laws to stand is beyond me. Randy Weaver was supposedly sawing shotgun barrels..

So what? Was that worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars in OT for the PD, FEDS, etc? Worth the injuries to feds/marshalls? Worth shooting women in the face?

Add the $200 tax in at the point of sale and run the check through NICS. Call it a day.

A machete is a killing instrument. Until it is used to kill, it has legitimate purposes that can be counted in the dozens. I will not make a leap of faith to assist the government in what would otherwise amount to an unjust prosecution on what "could" happen, but didn't/hasn't.

If this was a DIAS, I would not be as convinced of my arguments here -- BTW.

They went after Randy Weaver after a BATF finally got Weaver to agree to buying a shotgun the agent had the barrel of shortened to 17 15/16 inches. Weaver originally wanted nothing to do with the shotgun, but reluctantly agreed to buy it after the agent kept pestering him to.

I don't know if Weaver was aware that the barrel was a 16th of an inch short of the legal minimum or not

    I have no sympathy.
To me it's a lot like people using the SIG brace as a SBR. The entire thing is idiotic and I'm sick of it. It's a fricken oil can adapter, same technical crime if you duct tape a 2 liter bottle to your barrel. If you catch somebody doing it, they should have to register the NFA item or face confiscation of the item. It's not like they had heroin.

This is also why every state needs to be an NFA state. Then if you catch people using $25 solutions because they don't want to pay to register an actual suppressor or SBR then make them pay the $200 NFA tax to register their stupid adapter, that will bring an end to the practice real quick.

Honestly, that just another BS law. They need to reopen the registry and if anyone has an unregistered "anything" they need to pay their tax or hand it over. Pretty simple.

We need to recognize the distinction between someone who has a DIAS that was never registered and uses it to make his AR go "brrrrpt" and the North Hollywood Bank Robbers who made unregistered conversions so that they could rob banks. If we can have "hate crime" laws then "intent" should sure as hell play a part here.

If some kid on a farm in Okie Dokie USA duct tapes a 2 liter bottle on his .22 rimfire to produce a crappy suppressor then the WORST possible legal outcome should be the father being forced to register the damn thing and pay a $200 tax.

We got rid of prohibition because we were enforcing absurd regulations that were creating more problems than they solved. Currently we are decriminalizing marijuana in several states, I think the time has come to ditch the "sporter clause" and make all 50 states NFA compliant so people can simply pay a tax if they want a machine gun, sbr, suppressor, etc.

I will never vote to convict anyone of a weapon's charge if I am on a jury.

Felon in possession? Nope. Violation of the NFA? Nope. Violation of various carrying laws? Nope.

LEOs and DAs better come at me with a wronged victim if they want to see a conviction.

Sadly, there are guys even in the gun community with a "I went through the hoops and he didn't so screw him!" mentality. I hope the wives of such men have affairs, get HIV, and then give it to them.

    Pretty much this.

Did the individual making grease catchers kill, and/or assault anyone with a grease catcher?

    If yes, let's talk.

    If no...

Your moral character is so low I lack to vocabulary to describe it. I hope that felon in possession doesn't go on to kill someone you care about. There might be a like-minded juror as you at that trial. I bet you'd be whistling a different tune then. Karma is a bitch. Is it just gun laws that you are so willing to sacrifice your integrity or is it all laws? Gonna go out tonight and do some copious drinking and driving too?

The hoops I went through are large and easy to navigate, so yeah, if you are too lazy to navigate the hoops then you get what you get.

As far as felons in possession goes, I hope you understand that the underlying reason for that particular law is the preponderance of recidivism of violent criminals.

As far as your other reluctance on cases, like everything else, it depends on the circumstances.

I hope you wife is faithful, kind, and loving and your foul comment was a terrible thing to write. Troll. Your attitude invalidates any other comments you wish to make on this matter.

The "I jumped through the hoops, so should you" mentality is sickening.

The laws are asinine. There should be no other discussion about how difficult or not the process is. The process is wrong and unconstitutional. Period.
