    Just purchased my first revolver

4" Python built in 76. I've been wanting one and for the price I got it I could not pass it up. Going to send it to Cylinder & Slide for their Master polishing and bluing.

Score, great way to start indeed! If it was mine, I'd keep it just the way it is. Def has a service revolver look to it.

    Congratulations!

I loved mine. Gave it to my Brother in Law.

    Sold my other two.

I would also suggest you have cylinder and slide go through the gun top to bottom to check function. One of the problems with the python and most Colt revolvers is the fitting did not lend itself to long term durability and you will often find colts out of time not locking up properly. I would say for every ten or so S&W revolvers over fifty years old I see one or two out of time or with poor lockup end shake etc. in contrast for similar vintage in colts about 6/10 will be off

Agree with this, plus previous poster "skip the re-bluing". That gun has a lot of character as-is.

    Congrats on a great find.
