Anybody with any positive/negative experiences with current M1A's?

I would go LRB with Bula parts or USGI if you can afford to.
Otherwise look for an older Springfield with USGI parts for a little more than what the newer cast component guns go for.

If you have the option to get an older one with USGI parts for a reasonable price, go for it. Top choice would be BULA however, great rifles. The new production M1A's are fine, there are just reports out there of minor (to major) part failures. No big deal if you know your way around the platform, but you shouldn't have to worry about a brand new rifle...
I don't like the Bula receiver, it lacks sights. The LRB is better because it has both sights and a rail for certain models. Not a fan of the bolt on rails either- seems the scope mounts are a hit or a miss.
Bula makes three types of receivers: standard, XM21 (the one without sights), and a XM21 DMR (with sights and rail that bolts into the stripper clip guide slot and top of receiver).
If I had to do it again I would have avoided the m21. Fantastic precision. However the stock is better suited for optic. Lowest setting on the stock and irons are still unusable. The rifle is also over 12 pounds. The single lug receiver prevents frequent field stripping as well. It is mostly usgi parts and purchased for $1000 in the late 90's. So bought it!
Love my Springfield Armory standard model. No scope yet, though I have the mounts. Sights are so good, I dont feel the need yet. Will when i decide to hunt with it. No failures, breakages or problems.
I have a Springfield M1A. I have about 2000 rounds through it with no problems with reliability. It has a fantastic trigger and it's very accurate. I know it's a sample size of 1, but mine has been a joy to shoot.
