KAC 14.5 Mod 2 Upper CHANGING Muzzle Device Advice

    Hello all

Recently purchased the Mod 2 MLOK 14.5 KAC upper SR-15

Would like to change the three prong into something that does both functions, and is not solely a flash hider.

    I was thinking of the following options, in order of preference;

    1) Precision Armanent EFAB
    2) PWS FSC556
    3) Whatever else you think I should consider

As a side note, will any of these NEGATIVELY affect the performance of the upper?

    Thanks

KAC 14.5 Mod 2 Upper CHANGING Muzzle Device Advice

I bought a Precision Armament AFAB for an 11.5 build I did. The gent that recommended the AFAB to me has both EFAB and AFAB, but had a hard time distinguishing the two when HE shot the AR's they were on and so he actually recommended he AFAB to me. I was impressed with the EFAB, that I bought another and replaced a BattleComp. Haven't used PWS, but I'm definitely sold on the Precision Armament brakes. I'd put it on your short list.

I have the PWS on a BCM 14.5" and plan on changing it out. When shooting it and others are around you on the range they can definitely feel the concussion from it. Only reason I have not done it yet is that it is pinned and welded to the barrel. I'll have to send it off and have just not taken the time to do it so far.

Are you planning on using a suppressor in the future? If so then I would suggest looking into the appropriate suppressor mount.

However of the two choices listed I would recommend the EFAB.

I really like the KAC M4QD MAMS.

I work for Knight's, and I could put literally any of our super-duper muzzle devices on my guns, and my 14.5 SR-15 wears one of these (pinned and welded).
Here she is with an NT-4:

It's not the least expensive brake/FH in the world, but it is highly effective, not as blasty as most others, mounts an NT4, and is a KAC product (which keeps your warranty in-tact with no justification needed as long as the installer doesn't screw anything up).

Do Mod 2 E3 flash hiders have thread locker applied, such as Locktite or Rocksett? I need to change one too, and remember hearing that those have been sometimes difficult to remove. I don't have an KAC barrel extension wrench, and that is difficult to obtain here in my neck of the woods. What would be the second best way to go about removing it safely?

I wouldn't bastardize a KAC upper Do what Jack said and put a MAMS on it.
