Besides plinking, my S&W 65 and S&W 66 only get used for self defense on the ranch in South Texas (close to the border). For that, I prefer the 66. I carry it OWB, and it is less likely to hang up on brush or snag on my clothes when doing chores or tracking deer or hogs.

    What are you really asking?

If you are asking which of the two pictured revolvers to keep because you have to sell or get rid of one, I'd recommend keeping the model 66 with adjustable sights. That's way you can adjust them to the POI of different ammo.

if you are asking which one to buy, I would tell you to buy a new or used Ruger GP100 or a used S&W 66 or 686 if you are looking for a carry gun. That way you can get reliable quality with a reasonable price. If it's for a range only gun, I'd again say the Taurus 66.

I used to sell Taurus back in the late 90s early 2000s at a big box store. They were affordable, but were not as robust as the Rugers and Smiths. We had to process some warranty issues. I will ceded that in some cases they have out innovated S&W with the diversity and features on their revolver line.
