Last night I reloaded, as in stuffed mags. I have four fat 50 ammo cans that hold 28 mags each plus a dozen or so random mags I keep in a cardboard box. My little el-Cheapo CAA loader and my thumb and forefinger uploaded 2,000 rounds throughout the evening while I listened to Pandora. I still have several empty mags, but ran out of ammo.

I'm a little concerned about the two ETS mags I have, they were harder to load using the loader, and I noticed when loaded to 28 - all my 'canned' mags are loaded to 28 - the feed lips appeared to bulge out, yet they inserted and locked in okay when I checked. Not interested enough to actually measure but I'll keep an eye on them. I have about a dozen plastic mags, everything else is USGI aluminum - Brownell's and PSA making up the majority.
Speaking of, am I the only one who finds it interesting that Brownells killed their ten-packs?

It has been several years since I've bought any new mags, but I was buying their 10 packs pretty regularly building up my supply. Did not know they had quit.

BTW, jealous of the Umbrella lower!

Marked "Discontinued" here, and the replacement is singles-only. Sadly, Okay Surefeeds are a better deal now...

So am I, a little--this is my girlfriend's gun. I've been trying to score an Umbrella lower for her build for three years now, they seem to only do one run a year, and when they dropped a couple weeks ago I got lucky that I had a couple fat paydays right before and was fast enough on the draw to get in on it. (Well, I'm it's legal owner/keeper and if SHTF I'm breaking it out of the case rather than the other builds, but when she's in town and we're doing matches together it's "hers" on the range. The things we do for the ones we intend to grow old with, huh?)

Tested out an H buffer weight on my 16" middy. It does smooth out the recoil impulse nicely, I should have tried it out ages ago.

Ordered an Atlas Bipod with QD for the Sig 516 DMR. The last step (I think) in completing what I set out to accomplish. From Brownells using their 10% off special today only.

Were you running a standard carbine buffer before?

I took a friend shooting, mostly clay pigeons @ 50 yards. We shot my 11" 9mm pistol (not 100% yet, sadly) and my "nice" 16" 5.56 (BRT Optimum barrel, ALG rail, Larue trigger,
    and 1-4 Trijicon Accupower).

She did well with the irons-only pistol when it ran, busting clays with about 75% of her shots. After she shot a bit with the oh-so-smooth and accurate BRT barreled gun, she didn't shoot the pistol or miss any more.

It was well into the 90s today, btw.

I put together a psa 20” rifle kit on a BCI lower. Will be used for a range toy.

Yesterday and today I did some dry firing. Never use a shot timer is I figured I'd try seeing where I was at and what I needed to work on.

Installed an app on my phone, set the party time to 3 sec. Was quiet enough to pick up the "click" from the hammer. From a low ready (below a 45 deg angle) I started off at around 2.8sec or so. I was aiming at a small window on my furnace (just under 2"). This was from about 10-12 yards away.

After a few runs I got this down to the 1.8-1.9 pretty consistently with an occasional 1.7.

And just in the hopes it gives someone a chuckle... I did jab my self in the throat once this morning as I lifted the rifle but clearly didn't bring the stock out to my shoulder enough.

    Assembled an 11.5” upper

    Colt upper
    Colt BCG
    Colt 11.5” HRT/SOCOM barrel
    BCM MCMR 10”

I was originally going to cut down a spare gov profile colt barrel I had but came into to the factory 11.5 with pinned GB for a good price. Downside is the factory 11.5s have a gas port around .073ish, but I had an extra BRT .060 port from an old project.

Tapped the GB for 8x32 and threaded the port in, no issues.
