Amigo, wasn't trying to be snappish, my apologies. The BFD actually went on the spec-sheet before anything else, since AR pistols have a rep for being rather nasty in the blast department, so it's not "adding a collar to protect mounted crap" so much as "exploiting existing resources and capabilities."
As I compare a PMag-30 to the mockup in folded position, I'm not sure a 40 will fit on the left side with only an inch or so between tube end and receiver front. So maybe use the CASV slant surface as thumbrest, repurpose the thumbrest into a front handstop (which it's also designed to work as), and see if a 40 on the right will clear the ejection port--the only things I'm really married to here are "start with Mk 18 engineering*, fixed front sight to reduce unfold time, blast mitigation system, fold as short as possible while meeting other requirements, break up outline so nobody knows it's a gun until it leaves the bag," the idea having come from a buddy in local LE and I discussing counter-Active Shooter scenarios and options.
*Hence the CASV--the upper spec is basically an EOD Mk 18 Mod 0 upper with the shorter Mod 1 barrel swapped in. I'd have added their Arredondo magwell too, except that I'm not sure how well it plays with short-stacks and I'm not sure how much height it adds to know if it fits the "Break Up The Gun Shape" requirement.
EDIT: Checked out the Arredondo and it's WAY too long.
