I snagged a keymod QD mount and polymer accessory kit from Noveske for my NSR, I needed a front sling mount and I really like this style of hand stop!

A little fine-timing for ergonomics on support-hand accessories. That little light's button rests right under my thumbtip, and the KAC panel's a temp until I can shave down one side of a 5-rib to slot in between thumbrest and light.

Hopefully the blast deflector (not pictured, bayonet lug has to get Bobbitted first) will work letting me have a hand that far forward safely... then I need to figure out a 'filler' to fill the space between foregrip and magwell for intended 'break up the outline' effect.

Since the CAA sight-mount rails won't fit with the CASV, they and the dual high-power lights are being dropped; now I'm considering a small green-beam laser since this build is mainly meant for CQB.

Started grinding down the rear face of my BFD mount... cordless drill, two nuts, a bolt and 100-grit sandpaper have taken a nice bite out of the aluminum.

Air brushed some FDE moly resin on a Pro-Fab Lower. Cured it in the oven. Put together the lower with a LaRue LPK & MBT, a Forward Controls Enhanced Mag Release Button, a Forward Controls Enhanced Mag Release Ambidextrous, and an ambi safety. For now I'm using the LaRue stock - it is solid.

The moly resin FDE didn't match perfectly with the LaRue upper and rail, but not too far off. I really like using the moly resin, I follow the instructions as far as preheating the part(s), air brush light coats, reheat the part as necessary for additional coats. At about 200 degrees the 'paint' dries almost as soon as it hits, so there aren't any runs. This will be my fourth project with the moly resin and each one has been better as I learn the idiosyncrasies of the air brush I'm using - an entry level Paschal (sp). Final cure at 300 degrees for an hour. let her cool down and assemble.

So the lower is complete, almost - I didn't have a FDE trigger guard, and I realized I also don't have a B5 Type 23 grip to put on it. I'll pickup up the trigger guard tomorrow on the way to Salina HD. I ordered the B5 grip from Brownells with some other stuff. I'll use the LaRue grip until the B5 arrives.

This is the completion of the LaRue 6.5 Grendel Upper Assembly Kit I bought in early August. It is my first 6.5 Grendel. Right now, in addition to waiting for parts, I'm looking for the six mags I bought and placed somewhere where I'd be sure to remember where they were.

For the time being I'm going to have to run a set of irons off another rifle, the oldest daughter started college and the optics budget went for books, which was an unexpected expense, she is scholarship and loaned up, so I figured she could use the excess loan money - nope.

TLDR: I put together a lower.

I got a cloud defense LCS for my pressure pad. Simple design but I love it, no more zip ties and double sided tape. Also impressed with how light it is.

I wrote up an article on how to use it a long time ago, and while I've used other finishes, the Moly Resin continues to impress me with how well it applies and holds up.
