Barrel came in. No tools, so need to bring it in shop to put together. Spray painted upper receiver for the time being.

Put the mag catches on 2 Colt stripped lowers, so far.

Bought off EE on another board; the seller is posting the missing trigger guards & roll pins today.

Have a friend who is a Certified Colt Armorer, who'll prolly do the rest for me.

My vision isn't what it used to be...

Installed a Faxon 16" mid-length pencil barrel and SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block in my wife's Texas Black Rifle Company AR in place of a standard 16" M4 Profile barrel and non-adjustable gas block.

Yep, I really like it. Probably just an Alabama thing. The engineering really fascinates me but then so many things do at times.

I'm headed out to the range this weekend to zero my P4Xi and see how my Epsilon 5.56 brake affected this build. Then we will be taking out for some hogs and a deer or two.

The plan was that I was done building and buying AR's for this year, already up to five for the year.

Now that I received a free barrel on Veterans day I decided to go through the parts box and see how far off I was from having everything I needed to build another.

So I already had these parts as extras and take offs:
Sionics BCG
Magpul SL-K butt stock
Magpul pistol grip
Magpul BUIS
Noveske low profile gas block
Vortex SPARC AR red dot
A2 bird cage flash hider
BCM PNT trigger
BCM trigger guard
mil spec charging handle

So to try to not spend a lot extra I picked up a basic LPK/UPK and receiver extension and an inexpensive stripped upper/lower 15" hand guard combo set from BCA, spent $399 shipped for the parts I was missing.

So this is the start of the last rifle for the year, I want to see how this budget build compares to my other rifles that I spent a lot more on.

Here is the budget three piece set already coated in burnt bronze, also getting to support a local NC rifle maker.
