Anyway, it is a little fatter (~.300" per the specs), probably because it comes with 10 round mags and will accept full size P30 mags.

But, yea, I guess if it's too fat for someone then it's too fat.
Was comparing the LE P30SK for pricing. Don't know street price on it just yet. Guesstimate $420-$450.

Typically people want a thin pistol for daily carry from our experience selling to the CCW crowd. I think we might have sold all of 3 of the P30SK's.

I suspect the HK would be a good deal better sorted out of the box with pretty much zero chance of issues. Given this is a new gun for Springfield I would expect a greater chance teething problems. But it is true that the SK is really just a cut down full size gun and, much like other guns in its class like the G26, Vp9sk etc is really not so hot at anything. Not a big fan of any of them.

I am, on the other hand, happy to see someone bucking the striker trend a bit.
Let those who are fond of blaming and finding fault, while they sit safely at home, ask, ‘Why did you not do thus and so?’I wish they were on this voyage; I well believe that another voyage of a different kind awaits them.”

For better or worse. I had the same appeal to the FNXT 45 - granted their niche is wildly different.

I can't wait to go look one of these over. My wife is stoked too.

I love my 9 shield, and this looks slightly bigger and heavier, but after carrying nothing but DA/SA sigs on duty with maybe a j-frame "BUG" thrown in for 20+ years, I have not been able to warm up to the strikers for carry... Yeah, I know. Just me. I carry one now, and I'm TRYING to get used to it... I still prefer that smooth, deliberate DA long pull as an added measure of safety and control after clearing leather. Add, once you get used to a de-cocking lever, it's really different carrying a striker. This might really be a breath of fresh air if it turns out to be all that they are saying.

<--- I'm an older guy that grew up on wheel guns. I like my hammer. Time will tell on this one. Fingers crossed that it's "all that".

If this turns out to be as advertised it might just be the wife's next pistol. Well not next, getting a G42, but next after that.

Folks, this is the technical section of M4C and not for political discussions. There is a thread in the GD if you would like discuss the State of IL attempting to screw gun owners.

It should have a commercial with this and a catchy jingle to go with.

The one at my LGS was $469, but they don't always have very good prices, and this is probably because that was the only one they could get from the distributor.

Man, I'm wishing I had just bought it now.

A local gun shop had an unpriced display model in a marketing stand featuring a hammer.

    Impressions:

I really like the economics of the pistol. The shape of the grip is the best of the XD line by far.

The safety is easy to manipulate with nice tactile clicks.

The XDe is quite thin and diminutive but it's not a pocket pistol.

I tried a XDs mag and it wouldn't seat. It was a capacity issue. Minimum capacity of the XDs is 7 rounds. It's 8 with the XDe.

The DA pull is long. Like really long and heavy.

The SA is light but the reset is also very long.

Not sure if this was just an issue with display model but the mag release didn't have much return spring tension. And mags lacked a real positive click when seated.

The slide didn't feel especially easy to rack. It was just normal in my book.

Overall, seems like a nice endeavor. Not sure I'm sold either.

Other than price, how would this XD-E compare to a Sig 239?
