Florida Sheriff calls on citizens to arm themselves

Sheriff speaks the truth and says what many of us have said for years.

A Florida sheriff’s office posted a controversial message on social media, urging citizens to arm themselves in self-defense.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted the video on Facebook Wednesday, two days after a deadly workplace shooting in nearby Orlando claimed the lives of five people.

“Folks, now more than ever is the time for our citizens to be prepared to serve as the first line of defense, not only for them, but for their families,” Sheriff Ivey said.

The sheriff said that calling 911 means officers are on their way, but said, “Until they arrive, it’s up to you and those with you to neutralize or eliminate the threat.”
Of course, it caused controversy. There is no political capital to be had in live people over dead unarmed victims.

Mid state Florida, might as well be Montana. It's not very controversial there, everyone except the meth heads agree.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Gov Scott also just signed a strengthened stand your ground law. Maybe I need to move to Florida. Nah, too many north easterners. I'll stay in Texas, but I am really fed up with the actions of our large liberal cities. My local sheriff is known as sanctuary sally.

    Ah, yes--the old 3-7-77.

There's a song about that: LP album "Silver Dollar Country", Lanny Ross, 1968..."Vigilantes of Montana".

Thanks for the education on "3-7-77". I had never heard about that, and found it very interesting.

The sheriff was heard to have remarked that one should rally around their family, and be sure to have extra ammo, preferably an entire pocket full...

In all seriousness, of course people are up in arms about this one. About a third of Americans do not give two shits about the RTKABA and feel that we shouldn't have firearms in the first place. On top of that, somewhere near half of the population would be horrified to think that they have to be willing to bring violence to those that would do them harm if the police do not respond promptly. Hell, I have a city cop that lives IN MY BUILDING, and I can imagine response times would still be somewhere around six to ten minutes. If he's home, he's not sitting by the radio listening for a call, he's off work and enjoying his life.
"SEND IT" happens to be my trigger words...
