Podcast with Pat Mac--please listen to hear the truth.

Please listen to this so you can see what is typically the norm with media editing, twisting facts. Some jump to conclusions without knowing the facts and we owe it to industry leaders to know the facts before jumping on someone.

Keep it civil and discuss the topic like adults.

Listened to it last night. Doesn't change my opinion.

I would have trained with Pat before he cleared it up, and I would train with him again after he cleared the air. I don't demand absolute adherence to my exact view points from other people. The fact Pat's actual views got all twisted up by selective editing is no surprise. He should probably pursue a defamation suit against Comedy Central if true.

I even emailed him last night and told him (not that he needed it from me) to keep his chin up, I'd train with him any time I could. Hopefully I'll get another chance soon.

    Thanks for link.

I think people here in general did a good job of not getting too up in arms about it. People were disappointed, but no one flew off the handle.

Completely understand. They make a short vid off a 9hr day - looks like even patmac is human after all.

Same as coaldragger, I planned on training with him, still do. Cool to hear his side though.

I watched the Comedy Central thing.

    I watched the P&S podcast.

Pat said what he said. It's his opinion. I respect his opinion.

We don't all have to agree 100%.

However, I don't think he had to backtrack and act like he doesn't support those measures - it could be interpreted as disingenuousness.

I would train with him regardless.

If it wasn't Pat Mac he would have been crucified. Lesser known trainers and gun authors have been hung out to dry for far less.

Poscast with Pat Mac--please listen to hear the truth.

If the Facebook screen shot was real, the P&S modcast was damage control.

If he keeps going back and forth, it looks worse than owning it.

And if that is actually his opinion, I DO NOT respect his opinion.

True, but some people have earned the benefit of the doubt and some consideration. I don't think 3 day waits do anything meaningful, those driven to kill beyond all reason will find a knife, a broken bottle or whatever.

I do think people have died waiting for their 3 day wait when they bought a gun the same day they took out a restraining order against someone they discovered was dangerous.

People sometimes believe silly shit, often without really thinking it through. If Pat was just a gun blogger then screw him. But he actually has useful training to offer so take his beliefs into question and decide if you do or do not want to train with him.

I can think of a few, very talented trainers that I just don't want anything to do with because they hold beliefs that are pretty offensive to me. But they are free to think as they wish and I'm free to spend my money where I'm most comfortable.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I like situations where there can be good-natured bantering back and forth so long as it doesn't detract from the training. I've had a few experiences with trainers that seemed as intent on delivering political diatribes as they did instructing. If opposing views don't feel free to join in it is a no go in my book.

That being said, unless PM was delivering sermons on UBC's and waiting periods, who cares? The only problem comes when we can't agree to disagree.

Now if you are concerned that he is sending a portion of your course fees to Concerned Citizens Against Gun Violence then, IMO, you have a valid point.

Agreed. Based on what I have seen/heard, he is no longer someone I'd give a phuckin' penny to. Also, seems to be an underlying current of "uneasiness" in people critical of him. As in he comes across as a nut job. I realize he is intense, but sometimes his self-control seems on the edge. Been around many BTDT's' including life-long friends; he isn't the only person to have gone through serious stuff and they came out without the "attitude."

He is more than entitled to his opinions and we are entitled to say he is coming across as a duplicitous asshole that more than likely has some internal issues he has failed to deal with.

Plenty of just as qualified instructors to train with that don't carry the baggage/attitude/beliefs he does.

All I know is Pat MAC is a patriot and the real deal, and while I disagree with his opinion (my two cents), he is entitled to his opinion. In a rational world UBC & waiting period are no big deal, obviously that is a mere step for the gun grabbers. I believe Pat Mac lives in NC, doesn't NC have both state wide UBC & waiting periods? He probably thinks NC laws are fine, hell here in FL there is a wait period (depending on the county) for those who don't have their CWFL, since I have my CWFL I barely even acknowledge that law, stupid but no big deal. This would absolutely not stop me from training with him nor does it really change my opinion of him.
