    I've also got a MUR and it doesn't appear to be much of a problem.

    I have a Mk8 and a Mk14. My initial observations;

    -I vastly prefer feel of the Mk14 over the Mk8. I never really liked the cross beam shape of the Mk8, and the Mk14 is significantly smaller in the hand.

    -I think the handguard to barrel nut connection is better with the Mk14, it looks like more of the handguard touches the nut, which leads me to think it will have less opportunity to flex.

    -Overall, the handguard is lighter, and some of the weight is moved rearwards to the bulkier Mk14 mounting cross bolt area.

    -The orientation of the new cross bolts doesn't bother me, as I don't use a magwell grip.

    -The lack of 10 & 2 MLOK slots doesn't bother me, as I don't mount anything there.

    -My only complaint / issue, is the Geissele low-pro gas block just barely fits, and could cause some MLOK screws to touch on the 6:00 slots. Even Magpul Type 2 covers have to be shaved down a little to fit without contacting the gas block. But that's a super easy fix.

    Wondering why the cross bolt area is so large compared to other MK series

    I'm guessing to save on machine time/cost.

    Does the MK14 use the same barrel nut as the MK4/8, etc?
