So in MD all categories of NFA items are legal (surprisingly) however after all the liberal 2013 gun law BS in MD they made it so even SBR's and SBS's have to meet a minimum overall length requirement. *eye roll
Several factory SBR's like DD MK18's or Krinks etc all meet it. (btw both of which are still legal to buy in MD even though fullsized DI AR15s and AKM's are banned.... again *eye roll... and any other misc. gun you want to build have to meet the OAL length requirement.
Anyways I've had a couple SBR's done up since the "new" laws went into effect.
Both times even though it's not a listed requirement as far as I know to do so, the ATF examiners upon finally getting to my forms in the stack have kicked them back for review and have contacted my NFA dealers (two different ones) to send them a photograph of my build with a tape measure in the photo to prove to them that it's actually the overall length that is stated on my form 4's.
And despite the fact that those forms are signed under the penalty of perjury that all the info I put on the forms are true...
All this done in order to prove that the actual gun I am building meets the MD state SBR OAL laws. I'm not the only one that this has happened too either in MD.
The first time this happened I got my form back approved 2 weeks after my FFL sent in the photo. This time (my second build post 2013 state law changes) it's now been about a month or more and still did not hear anything back yet. NFA dealer called to check on it and he just got the generic "It's still under review." answer back.
I was just wondering if this was a new thing for only this socialist crap hole or in any other states as well.
