CAV ARMS WORTH IT OR NOT

was thinking about getting a Cav-15 MKII receiver and building a 9mm or10mm AR. never used a polimer lower so thought I'd ask here and see what those who have thought. don't wan't to do a SBR on a receiver that won't last and preform as well as a forged unit. been told it works as a sub gun in 9mm and .45. the 10mm is realy what I want . mag's might be a problem also. anyone have a Cav arms lower they like or dislike.

i have a cav lower. very solid. i like the length of the stock. (a1) i bought mine when i was living in NY as collapsible stocks were banned anyway.

the only real downside is versatility. for that reason i don't think i'd build one up as an SBR. you have really no stock or grip options.

I highly doubt you'll break one though. there's always that fear of offgassing/brittleness with plastic guns, but i'd be willing to bet you'll easily get 30+ years out of this lower.

i've heard that they're very nice for sub calibers because the plastic lower takes away some of the trigger slap. i have no personal experience with this though, i run mine as a 5.56 middy.

I bought one of the recent Cav-Aid 2008 lowers and it works great. Excellent feel and light weight. I highly recommend them.
