I would look at the Ruger SP101 or GP100 for current production 357 revolvers.
Plenty of them without the side locks and the MIM is a bigger deal online then it is in reality

If you just want a 357 look around for police/prison/Armor Car/security trades. That's how I pick mine up. Most have more holster wear than actual use. My model 13-2 cost a whopping $289 and it was a re import from somewhere.... probably Australia. And my model 15 (not a 357) was $325. Both in very good condition.

    Model 13-2

Why do I need to open the side plate? My only concern is with function!

This is one you give to your grandson:

    This prob. most practical:

All these prices are only going up, question is how fast. And NIB examples are more rare.

To my mind, the Colt and S&W revolvers of the 60s and 70s were some of the finest sidearms ever made.

The blueing, the fit and finish, the hand labor spent on each regular line gun would all be considered Custom Shop work today.

I have a S&W Mod 10 from about 1955, no big deal but probably the smoothest trigger of any DA revolver I have ever used. My 1st pistol was a new S&W K-22, circa 1973.

    OP, Good Luck.
