    It's the law.

The statute of limitations on violations of 18 U.S.C. section 922(r) is 5 years. The general statute of limitations found at 18 U.S.C. section 3282 is the one applicable to prosecution of criminal violations of the Gun Control Act. If the assembly was done more than 5 years ago then the time for prosecution has run out.

    18 U.S.C. section 3282.

Way to contribute to the tribal knowledge base. If you make bold statements about federal law, that fly in the face of most peoples understandings, you should probably provide a credible citation. We are all pretty fortunate that Josh doesn't answer questions like that - someone might think he was rude and interested in simply stirring the pot... I'll bet you Josh will forget more about Sigs, machine guns, and 922R than the rest of us will ever know.

Oh and I just did my own research and did a word search for "5 years" in US Code Title 18 Section 922R. Came up with no results. My search function must not be working.

    Don't be so lazy.

Any actual experience with them or just chiming in?
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

    Blasphemy!

Swiss SIGs are expensive and certainly not for everyone. They are so elegant IMO, akin to owning a Rolex that shoots. A Rolex is not for everyone either. A Casio or Timex will keep fine time, but a Rolex is a Rolex. And a Swiss SIG 55x is a Swiss SIG 55x. Expensive? Yes. Overpriced? That is a matter of perspective. Overhyped? Again a matter of perspective.

I don't consider $2800-$3500 to be overpriced for a Swiss SIG. Consider what pre-89 550s and 551s cost and these are a real bargain relatively speaking. Also consider the fact that these are not likely to be imported forever. Eventually the current imports will be sought after by collectors and all the fence sitters will say "I should have purchased one when they only cost [insert current market price]".

Well that is interesting. Thank you for posting the link. I'm no attorney, so this is probably off base - I am under the impression that the clock starts ticking on statute of limitations only once an offense is known to exist. This would be an interesting question for Mark Barnes.

Yah that's probably a bad idea, an opinion letter might look like intent. Just read what I wrote until you can grasp it.

Anyway, looked at that JDI website, no mention of the SIG rifles other than numbers, no pictures- nothing. I hope they realize that most gun owners are not on Facebook for a reason. If they didn't have word of mouth I'm sure they'd have a hard time selling anything.

With the limited numbers of guns they are bringing in, they are probably doing just fine with word of mouth.

Tag for seeing the ones that get imported since I can't find pics of these anywhere.

So I know these Sigs will be imported as pistols, but does anyone know if we will see a similar rifle variant of these coming in? I'm not well versed on all the different Sig models.

I've been wanting to buy one of these just to stash away for later. At $2800-3500 like mentioned above it's a steal IMO.

I can't buy a pistol version at the moment, but that just might change soon.
