Someone (Paul?) said if it had not been for Scalise being there with his detail, many more would have been shot or killed. I read that to mean that was the only security there.

It does make you wonder why none of the congressmen were carrying their own concealed pistols. Yeah, not real easy with softball practice, but not impossible, and how many people carry a pistol while jogging (etc.)?

I'm not in any way blaming the victims, but am wondering if the people who supposedly support RKBA have no real interest in it.

I feel like the only way to get ahead of this is if Scalise takes a firm stance that it was the shooter not the tool.

Even then, it's up in the air as to how far another one of these "OMG Aszzault Gattling Autos with Mega clips need banning" can push.

My biggest fear is some Rights caving in with a: "See, this can happen to anyone, it needs to be outlawed!"

ABC news is also correcting their own reporting to say ... "no no no... we don't know if the person asking if it Republican or Democrat was indeed the shooter"

Rand Paul saying he believes it was politically motivated based on what he has heard. His reports are the shooting started right after the question was asked and answered.

The gunman was shot by Capitol Police and Alexandria Police, apprehended and taken to the hospital, officials said. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was killed.

As for the weapon used, it will change back and forth, just heard an interview on Fox, an eyewitness at the YMCA across the street now said it's an AK style rifle. Don't know how he could tell the weapon type from where he was. So wait until the law enforcement's official report.
