rebarreling 11.5" 5.56 upper - bolt carrier question

I dunno if it were me, .065 on an 11.5 is a low enough starting point I'd ditch the extra complexity of the sbc.

i think if i can find an lmt enhanced carrier in stock anywhere i'll try it first.

that's one reason i've been looking at the gemtech sbc , they're pretty easy to find in stock

You aren't going to need a LMT carrier or a Gemtech Sbc. The whole point of have a smaller ported barrel is eliminating all that. They have their place, but an 11.5 with a .0650 gas port doesn't need anything else. If anything you could run the A5H3 with the can and the colt spring. Or the A5h2 and green.

It really depends and comes down to what ammo you shoot. That will make much more of a difference then anything of said proposed setup.

sounds simple enough and i like simple. i'll put an m16 carrier in and see how it goes. i wasn't sure if any of the carriers with an altered cam pin track would make a difference in how it ran.

From my experience you will be just fine with an auto carrier. In smaller ported barrels with different springs and buffers and an e carrier is just too much going on. I've found more issues using e carriers then not in chopped down barrels with smaller ports. If you had a BCM 11.5 that has a larger port then the one in question, you may see more upside.

thanks for all the input. the centurion barrel will be replacing a bcm 11.5 barrel. it's been a great shooter but is definitely over gassed. i'm looking to smooth the action out on this gun with the barrel/buffer system swap since the suppressor seems to stay on the gun more than off lately but i still need it to be reliable without the can.

i guess initially i'll start out with a full auto carrier and an a5h2 buffer with a colt spring. i already have a sprinco green spring and i'll pick up an a5h3 buffer to test out also. i shoot mostly full power 5.56 ammo so hopefully i'll find a flavor she likes.

I know you already have the Centurion, but this is a less expensive option:
