Nice rigs. I too am working on a M16A1 clone but will mostly be reproduced parts but I did get a set of GI buttstock, handguards and pistol grips
Beautiful builds!
Thanks guys. BTW, I am pretty much healed up at this point. Doing really well. On a topic related note, I have embarked on building two more M16A1 clones. One from the late 1967-1970 period and another from the 1971 period. The late 1967-1970 era M16A1s still had D type stock, but now had birdcage FHs. 1971 was the first year they introduce the E type stock. From 1967-1971, the upper receivers still had no forge codes as they did not appear until 1972. Right now, I am waiting on uppers, lowers, and charging handles from Nodak Spud. I have everything else at this point.

These are really inspiring me to try a clone, or perhaps just pick up an old SP1 or some other commercial rifle from the era. I’m really digging these.

I’ve assembled dozens and dozens of modern rifles so that wouldn’t sway me. I was actually offered pretty fair prices on a few parts recently and happened to find a few GI surplus kits. Would you happen to have any parts guides a guy could follow?

If you can tell me the exact model you are wanting to clone, I can give you a good parts list. E-mail me at reaja@cox.net.

Roger that. I guess I’m most confused about receivers, but would love a good guide. Message sent.
