“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Where do you guys come from? I've got some mushrooms in my lawn and need to mow the grass tomorrow. I don't want to run over any of you.

Haha, that's funny.
Main worry would be shoulder. If it's an hbar, no worries, lightweight barrel may have issues, gas block diameter being another issue.
Edited: new phone autocorrect butchered what I was trying to say.

Depending on tolerances, there may not be enough material to make the .625" gas block seat. It needs to be on the larger side of the tolerance range to do what the Israelis did with a standard .625" FSB.

That is one reason that the Colt HBAR and Colt Canada LMG barrels became popular for a time at least. Their heavy base profile allowed options that are not really there for other barrel profiles. Some of those Colt Canada LMG barrels could be made into excellent SPR type rifles for roles with the durability of CHF CL for practical 10x magnification uses on the unknown ranges pretty well back then.
I would have to refer back to some older notes for carbine gas length uses though. I thought that they ended up shorter than 11.5", but a lot of time and many other projects have been done since then.
