The main thing you need to ask yourself is what the scope is going to be used for. If this is for hunting for something other than duty use, knock yourself out with as high of power as you want. It is nice to be able to zoom in when making long shots, but certainly isn't necessary.

You probably aren't clearing rooms or using that rifle in 3gun so by all means put it on there. If you're punching paper, hitting steel, or varmint hunting go right ahead. For punching paper I've never said I wish I had less magification. When I'm doing accuracy testing I always wish I had a 4-16 accupower instead of a 3-9 accupower.
