    10mm Fiber optic sight reliability

Was wondering if anyone has this setup, and your experiences. I'm getting close to finalizing a decision of a 10mm purchase for woods carry/javelina hunting (in AZ) and love the 1911 platform. However, when I worked a range, people ALWAYS lost their FO front sight, even with their 9mm. So, with the10mm being much more powerful, is the fiber optic sight a poor option for a 10mm pistol?

I find F/O fronts to be pretty reliable. Shot thousands of rounds through my M&P 9mm and 1911 45 ACP with only one fiber failure. I had a fiber on my .44 mag for a while and never had a failure, but that was mostly shooting specials. If the fiber is melted correctly, I think you should be ok.

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense. I've been researching FO replacement and came across a video from 10-8 consulting, but theee were many, and they stated your words exactly about the properly fitted (melted) FO sight should give good durability in most, if not, all platforms.
