Basically, it works OK for specific applications - such as, if you put a can on it and fire it full-auto, using it to, "quietly," dispose of individual targets at very close range. With the understanding that sometimes it takes a 40-round burst to make your point.

It seems to me that it's the sort of weapon that 50 years ago would have been made with 22 Hornet and used for the same sorts of things.

The 4.6 and 5.7 have a specific application role, basically a compact "subgun" sized weapon that can defeat body armor. If you have a busload of terrorists holding hostages and a reasonable expectation they can afford vests and perhaps even helmets things like the MP7 and P90 are exactly the right tool for the job.

Defeat the body armor and put down threats before they can harm hostages and follow up shots as needed. In 1985 before civie body armor was commonly available, the MP5 managed this role perfectly and that is why it became the darling of SWAT and military "sneak ops" long after experts declared the SMG obsolete.

It is also why damn near everyone who could afford to do so snagged a FN USG and PS90 when they were finally made available to the civie market around 2005. We didn't even mind that we couldn't get the actual military cartridge and had to settle for a modified version with less penetration capability with the SS192. Then they neutered it the same year and gave us that 40 gr. Vmax crap that was useless for everything and was basically a varmint round.

Seems there are better options now, but as I said earlier if I can't get a meaningful round from the factory then it's more trouble than it's worth. Kinda sad, I really enjoyed owning my space guns for a short time.

I could be confusing forums ....

But didn't we have a member here who was a PMC that showed a picture of a female team member with a HK MP-7? Asian chick I believe. I think he said that the 4.6 worked okay if you used like 5 round bursts.

Also I agree on the P90 in 9mm. That would be my next gun for sure if they made that.

As an owner of a PMR-30 and an FNX-45 I've wanted an FN 5.7 for a while but they're just too rich for my blood. Not gonna argue that there aren't better calibers for the job but I like the high energy/low recoil of the .22mag in the PMR-30 and having that in a center fire cartridge would be nice. The rimfire cartridge just isn't reliable enough for serious use.
