    There's your million dollar idea.

    Or maybe it isn't.

Perhaps the better question might be: Why would anyone make a 5.7mm carbine that takes Five-seveN magazines?

And more importantly, why would I buy a carbine that is chambered in a round so neutered even the first civilian version was neutered again.

It's like a "tactical" .22 Magnum carbine, except that the .22 Mag will actually defeat some ballistic vests but a 5.7mm won't.

There's a capability gap between less than lethal and lethal that needs to be filled, lets call it semi-lethal.

That shocks me!! I thought the 5.7 was faster and had more pointed projectiles?

YEah, my PS90 SBR will put the R&R Weapons Systems loads through level 3|A vest panels all day long. Not to get into yet another 5.7 debate, because there really shouldn't be one. ITs not a rifle, its not powerful... but what it will do is penetrate level 3a armor all day long.

Well gonna need a time machine. Was around the time the first 5.7mm ammo was all over the news as a "cop killer" round and I think the vest in question was a PACA. No idea what level it was, but every round out of a .22 mag rifle defeated it. We didn't make a video.

Uh, read the discussion re: 5.7 over on lightfighter. Multiple PDs that dumped the 5.7x28 due to poor terminal performance.

Not to derail the thread, but does the 4.6 do much better? Seems like the German army has been using it for year in the middle east, as well as some SOF guys. Is there some magic there the 5.7 lacks?
