Whats the most you have spent building an AR?

Someone was playing a game on another forum about post your build "price list", thought it was interesting until I calculated how much I spent on my last build. Now I'm having a little buyers remorse , but do love the rifle! Definitely the last time I use Noveske parts to do a build, checked that block.

So whats the most you ever spent to finish a complete build (not including tools), any regrets?

    $3877?

Holy cow I'm cheap. I spent $1500 on a build with optic, bipod and soft case and felt like I was awfully spendy.

    I don't regret the build a bit.

P.S. Don't take any part of my reply as negative, that's a nice build!

So you're including optics and bipods in this? What about cans or dedicated hard cases?

A functional carbine with iron sights cost me $550 to build. I change the barrel every 12,000 rounds or so and now am on the 4th replacement barrel.

You can spend $2,500 to build an AR if you like. I prefer to buy an $800 AR and spend $1,700 on ammunition and training.

I don't think the Noveske parts are what put you over the top on your build.

I put the bulk of my money in my barrel and the trigger. The rest is fluff. $1300 max for my AR-15.

To keep everything in persective, Bud's is selling Colt 6920s for $840. Adding an Aimpoint Pro, cheap sling and reasonable light puts you at around $1350.

I just checked and using a credit card I can pick up a Colt 6920 for $870 from Bud's + $20 for my local FFL to transfer. If it had a 1:8 twist barrel, I would order one.

Yeah I'm not exactly frugal when it comes to my weapons, but I enjoy building them just the same. I think there is a sense of satisfaction that you get from firing a weapon that you built, as opposed to one that you bought off the shelf. At least that's how I see it.

Last time I did the math, ~$1500ish for a 20" DMR style AR with quality components and waiting for sales etc., sans can and optic. Sidenote, my Sionics BCG cost a hell of a lot more than $120, do those go on sale or something?

Planning on a 16" middy upper and the whole upper will cost more than a 6920; alas, I can't get a 6920 here.
