Colt used to stamp the date of manufacture on the underside of the barrel, near the chamber. This of course would be for the barrel itself. But if you bought one of these guns and are curious, I would pop off the hand guards and see if you can find a date stamp.

Personally it wouldn't bother me in the least if in fact the gun had sat in a warehouse at Colt since 2009.

Good morning everyone. I picked up my rifle from my FFL yesterday afternoon and upon initial inspection I am quite pleased. The fired shell included with the carbine has
a date of 04/13 stamped on it. This is the first Colt I have owned, but judging by what I have learned from this site, it appears to me to be all Colt.

Took mine out today, it's just the one with the carry handle. Got it sighted in quick and burned through 200+ rounds with no issue. Accurate and reliable, like you'd expect from Colt. These are a great deal. I'm going to keep mine original, I already have a Colt and S&W with Magpul furniture. I like the retro style of this one.

On another note, the date discrepancy between the fired cases in mine and Jjl1288 is interesting. Does it make sense that Colt was making these off and on for 4 years? It's clear mine had been sitting around for awhile in storage.

I'd say no. Much more likely they made them closer to 2013 and just happened to have some ammo with 2009 headstamp.

This wasn't the headstamp on the brass. Rather the pkg that the brass was sealed in.

That date is for the manufacture of the package material itself, not when the casing was put into it.

Pull your handguards and check out the date on the barrel. Mine is 2/16.

I picked up my Mexican Colt 6920's this morning. My only complaint is that I did not buy more!
