    Optic...down the road

I wanted to keep my 10.5 pistol as a simple iron sighted, foam tubed and plastic handguarded piece.

well that did not happen as I purchased a ALG hand guard when they had a blem sale.

The issue I was running into (it was easily corrected but took a second or less of movement)..... since there is no stock....my sights were not aligned properly when I snapped the pistol up. While it improved with practice....if I had to do it cold and for "real".....that precious second or less of correction got me wanting to go red dot.

While I want to keep my pistol as light as possible.....

do those with red dots comparing small apples to big apples.....find the larger optic (say a Aimpoint Pro) easier to sight in compared to a smaller optic (say a Aimpoint T1) on a AR pistol since there technically is no shouldering of a stock?

looking down the road for an optic (maybe a christmas present to myself)

    thanks in advance

I didn't find a difference in difficulty zeroing a Pro versus an AimPoint H1 or MRO. Didn't notice much of a difference in the weight adding a red dot over just the backup sites either.

I've had both Aimpoints and an MRO on my carbines. I used the same H-1 on a 223 pistol and currently on my MPX. There was very little shift in balance or noticeable weight before or after I mounted it. The pro however made a noticeable difference in weight and balance and I didn't care for it at all. If I were to buy a second MPX or another pistol build I would use an MRO. Definitely prefer the larger field of view and ease of adjustment.

I use a Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot.

No issues with reliability. It has withstood my Smith 500 Magnum so far.

The micro size sights are excellent and work well with both eyes open shooting styles.

BTW, great picture of the disk shaped muzzle flash showing the sometimes strange effects of supersonic flow.

what muzzle device is on your buddy's pistol?

if you blow up the pic.....the bolt has already picked up the round and heading into the chamber and the muzzle still appears flat or centered with the halo blast. COOL!

Claymore. His (& mine) are very flat shooting and accurate.

I looked at the Claymore as I have never seen one. It appears to be the same design as the Levang (which I have) but my Levang is a boring device. Yours is shapely with teeth.

I will stick with my boring Levang. HA

IIRC, ATF reversed their decision on that and OK to shoulder now.
