I would like sub moa with the ammo the barrel likes. Some days I can shoot that well...some days not...

Maybe "Recon" contour is a better description since 16" is a must. Weight--I would not like to get much more than 35oz.

IMHO, I think you *might* have trouble getting your sub moa accuracy requirement out of a 1/2" moa barrel once you are past 100yds using either the 1-6x or 1-8x Vortex Strike Eagle scopes. As the distance increases you can limit the barrels inherent accuracy by your scopes top end magnification. And as you know, you will also need a good trigger, a steady rest or bipod and the match ammo the barrel likes, to get sub moa accuracy.

Thanks all... I ordered a BA 16" SPR profile. It should be here next week. Hopefully I can assemble it next week and get to the range next weekend.

The price of a barrel might not have anything to do with accuracy but it will certainly have an effect on its precision.

A single point cut and lapped barrel will be more precise than a hammer forged or button rifled barrel. It will take more time to produce so the cost goes up.

    Late to the party here.

If for some reason you're unhappy with the BA barrel, or get tired of the weight, I have had excellent experience with my BRT Optimized 16" with intermediate length gas system.

I have been under MOA, repeatedly, at 200 yards using federal brown box XM193 and my aimpoint T1 4moa.

I posted pictures in the BRT barrel thread.

I'm obviously not utilizing all of the accuracy the barrel has to offer.

Oh, and it shoots smoother than any of the others because of the gas system length and reduced size gas port.

Only barrel in this thread that comes with a pinned on gas block.
That barrel is over $400 and a pinned gas block isn't needed... next

Not sure how you can sub-moa with 3 MOA ammo.

And yet I did it, over several groups, and posted pictures of same.

Was right at MOA at 500 on steel IPSC swingers last week.

Good batch of 193, to be sure. But it happened.

NOTE that I've shot a lot of that ammo from 200-500 yards, and taken several hogs with it as well. The barrel had been consistently that good. I just don't typically take pictures of my work on the range.

What was the equipment used when they tested the ammo and shot 3 MOA?

Compare that to what BTJ is shooting and maybe it will make sense.
