    Springfield Range Officer Elite

I'm sure several of you have seen this by now, but I'm curious on general reception by the members here (about the gun, not the political stuff that happened a little while back). New finish, rear sight, G10 grips, ambi safety, and trigger for only about $20 more onto the MSRP. I've been wanting a 9mm railed 1911 for a few years, wondering if this is maybe the best option out there yet. What do you guys think?

I am trading my ro operator for an operator elite on saturday. Lgs has 1 of each of the 4 models.

I hate the ambi safety. Really wish these did not come with it. Or have a option either way. The only gripe I had on my lbo was the ambi safety.

I'm getting out of the 45 ACP 1911 and that looks like a really nice setup in 9mm. I'm a lefty so the ambi would suit my needs. Unfortunately I live in Commiefornia and it will be multiple years before we see it, if ever. But I'm retiring in a couple of years and I bet Idaho will be getting them. Seems reasonably priced too.

I'm interested in getting one now, where before I didn't have interest - will wait and see where the street price ends up. The main things for me are the black T and ledge sight. The markings on the rear of the slide are bad - reminds me of the Grip Zone nonsense.

Yeah agreed there. Do you know anything about the finish? I've seen a few guys excited about it but I don't know if they're just assuming it's good or have experience with it under a different name.

According to SA it's what they use on their Professional builds for the FBI.

Visually, I love it. Functionally, I love it.

Okay, truth be told not a fan of the "ELITE" being color-filled in, but otherwise, hell, yeah, I think you get a lot more for your $20.

Handled one today, I'm pretty impressed. The slide to frame fit was tighter than my CRG that was worked over by SACS and the trigger was pretty damn nice as well. For that price point, I'm having trouble justifying the thought of a DW Specialist. Only thing though, the slide was getting hung up when hand cycling. The LGS owner said that it was the disconnector and can happen on 9mm 1911s because of the recoil spring, but it wouldn't be an issue when the slide is actually cycling. It was fine when he dropped it closed without a mag in, but I didn't think you were supposed to do that on a 1911.
