    The Shape Of Water (Review)

A with some ‎Guillermo del Toro movie, The Shape Of Water is difficult to easily categorize. Think film noir meets science fiction meets romance meets social commentary meets cold war drama. Like del Toro movies or not, he has to get credit for taking chances and originality, something sorely lacking in risk averse Hollywood. That this movie won Best Picture - as well as Best Director and others - bodes well for others taking more chances. If I had any criticisms, it was that del Toro attempts to jam too much into this movie, with examinations of homophobia, racism, loneliness, and aging, to name a few! End of the day, it's a beautifully made, beautifully acted, original movie that's as much art as movie. A-

Agreed ... as on the ‘surface’ (no pun intended) I thought it was to be an hokey take off on the Swamp Creature movies. But we found it to creative, inventive, imaginative, dark (in spots, e.g., violence) but overall extremely well done and acted and it was VERY ENTERTAINING ... and that’s what I go to see movies for!
Given that 10-shots are a group and 5-shots may be a favorable trend ... know that just one good 3-shot group can make you an instant internet superstar!

Given that Hollywood will shamelessly produce sequels on anything that made a buck, can't wait for them to come up with part deux.
I can see Christina Hendricks - flippers, gills and nothing else....like - equal opportunity n all, y'know?
Would make an awesome action figure!
    Per Ardua ad Astra.
STS - gone but not forgotten.
