I Need Wood Grips For My 686-2

    Hey Gang,

I have a 686-2 square butt that I need some wood grips for. I like the target style but I'm not opposed to finger grooves. I don't want Hogue grips. I want them to be checkered. I've been considering the VZ grips but I'd really prefer wood.

Post up what you guys are using so I can give them a look.

    Thanks,
    Big A
If you can't win a gun fight against a lightly-trained individual during broad daylight with 88 rounds of 30-06, I'm not sure you'd be able to do it with... any other firearm.

Ok, I've got an El Camino full of rampage here, so what's the plan?

VZ makes grips for the 686? Cool.

Yep, wish they did them in wood, not just G10...

Craig Spegel or Herrett's Stocks (specifically the Jordan Troopers).

I've had good luck purchasing grips for my Rugers from Altamont Company. https://www.altamontco.com/pistol-gr...sson/k-square/ They are nice looking grips and fit my revolvers well.

    What is your budget?

Nill makes the ne plus ultra when it comes to checkered target style grips. But that will likely run you $200+ and take two months to arrive.

I'll dig through my big plastic Tub o' Grips and see what I have laying around.

Jordan Troopers are great if you have large hands. Do they make them checkered? I have only seen them with a smooth finish.

And Spegal's are always nice, their boot grips are top-notch. But I'm guessing the OP is probably not going to carry a 686 concealed.

My Troopers are checkered, you have to request it as a smooth finish is standard. Craig Spegel also makes full-size grips for larger handguns. I have N-frames so equipped. They are a little on the small size, in keeping with his boot-grip reputation I suppose, but eminently usable.

You need to grace us with some photos in the pictures threads!

I have a Model 27-3 5" coming to me in the next few weeks, and am probably going to put Herrets on it.
