I wonder who will land that contract. And I wonder if the requisition requirements for 139db are at the shooter's ear, or at left of muzzle position. And I wonder why those H&K piston bolt eaters will deal with this. Especially since OSS is out because of the 18oz weight limit.

Thoughts, especially industry folks?

My guess is Surefire or Knight's will win the contract. Both have track records on gov projects and make current cans that meet the requirements. Not sure if KAC has a blank firing adapter version of their new can, but they could probably produce on easily enough.
Based on the photos / videos I've seen they have at least tried both Knight's and Gemtech.
Maybe somebody else will step in. Perhaps FN / HK could try to leverage their current military contracts?
