If you want a great, almost custom, railed 1911, you should check out the Dan Wesson Professional. I recently picked one up and all I can say is, WOW! I picked mine up off the forums here and got a heal of a deal. Thing was in minty condition. I sold a Valor years back and have had sellers remorse ever since. Finding this one almost makes up for it. Either way, 1911's rock!!

I actually like the 20lpi checkering too. If you want a rail, they recently upgraded MC Operator and I prefer it to the TRP Bull barrel operator with target sights.

I want to pick up the new Green and Black MC Operator with VZ grips and front checkering. That gun might be best bang for the buck as well.

I drink SA and LMT Koolaid. Openly admitting my issues!

    VZ Grips FTW!
Best low buck upgrade on my 92 and 1911.

Have been running a Trp operator for a few years now and really like it. No jams at all. Highly accurate, good trigger, and I love the bull barrel.
The worst thing about it, you won't shoot any other 1911 unless it's a higher grade, they spoil you.

+1. The only production 1911 worth buying.
