100 Veterans Honored as the Head to Their Gate in Austin-Bernstein Airport

I didn't know that TSA had a color guard.

I appreciate the effort and recognition given to our brothers who have gone before us.

I'm not sure where they are headed, but it's not something you see every day.

People stopped what thy were doing and lined the walkway, clapping and cheering. From first to last. Hence the very short video. I wanted to spend more time clapping that recording. Sorry about that.

In Texas, even Austin, I would not expect less, but...
Sometimes... just sometimes, man redeems himself, if only for a moment.

Thought so too. The brevity of my video slapped me in the face after I posted. Probably should have recorded a little more of the men and that beautiful bagpipe. But felt like clapping and cheering. Have some nods as well.

I work these events about twice a year in Tulsa. The Honor Flight Network has state chapters that volunteer time, money and resources to transport veterans to Washington DC, so they can visit the war memorials and see first hand that so many people appreciate their sacrifices. The mini parades they receive when they return are truly a sight to behold.

I was a little surprised at the number of people who took their faces out of their laptops and tablets and stood by and cheered these veterans on. That kinda made my day.

Way cool. I assume that was a returning Honor Flight. I have a buddy who is a film maker volunteer for Honor Flights, he escorts WWII Veterans from DFW to DC and back.

It just does something to me every time I hear pipes, then again I'm one quarter Scott so . . .

I know right? My family line comes from
Scotland as well. It's a beautiful instrument when played well.
I just enjoyed seeing folks stepping away from their "busyness" to recognize the veterans. Did my soul good to see that.

I've flown a couple of WWII Veteran Honor Flights and it is a truly an Amazing experience. A Vietnam Veteran Honor Flight came in while I was waiting on my jet in DCA yesterday. The terminal was packed and went complete nuts. These vets were getting hugs, handshakes and high fives like the rock stars they really are. Nice to see these guy finally the love and the respect for their service that they deserve.
