I honestly don't know who the candidate is going to be until 2020. Keep in mind Hillary thought she was going to be the candidate in 2008.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

The DNC put up Hillary freaking Clinton as their candidate, just let that sink in for a minute. And this was after eight years of a radical Marxist infiltrator at the helm.

They only go more extreme from here on out.

Scuttle butt is Barry O. is done with his eight month vacation and he's getting back into politics, "behind the scenes". Why else do you think him and Valerie Jarrett are cohabitating in a mansion two miles from the White House?

No, he is not going back in to public service but he and his minions will be conspiring to save the DNC and keep the nation heading down the path to ruin.

IMHO, the DNC will try to run an ultra popular progressive like Mark Zuckerberg or the like. Someone who is hero worshiped among the Bernie Sanders supporting Generation Y and who is wholeheartedly indoctrinated with the left.

As long as they keeping pushing the " it's going to be free and you deserve it" agenda, they will have a chance in any election.
I would love to believe that their base would reject socialism at some point, but I don't think it will play out that way.

About half this country is the problem. Always remember that. A +/- a percent or two and it goes one way or the other.

You do understand that the other half of the country is thinking the same thing.

Mayhaps what we need to do is work together so that we are less of a problem to each other.

Quid pro quid stuff, we help with fixing health care, you help with repealing NFA. (an example).

    Crazy talk, I know.

Do you think 'they' would out of hand reject a platform that said 'If you can't work we've got your back, if your out of work, we are going to create jobs, and we got your back until the jobs come through, if you won't work, all we promise is we won't let you starve.'

I don't think most people support flat out lazy folks.

Sure do. The majority of their views I have a problem with and cannot accept those views no matter how hard we try to "reach across the aisle". Sure, like you said there are some things we could possibly trade off with but the bulk of their platforms are unacceptable to me. And yeah, they probably feel the same way. I can live with that. C'est la vie.

The left's idea of compromise usually goes something like this: You have a sandwich. Lefty comes up and says "Gimme your sammich". You say "Go to hell, no way." They say "Okay, give me half then." You give them half. What has just happened?

That is generally the left's idea of "compromise"......they get some of what they wanted and YOU get left holding the bag without having gotten a damned thing in return.

I think they just can't fathom that a significant portion of the country just flat out disagrees with their leftist ideas. Instead, they think that the problem is the the "purity patrol" on their side who won't vote unless the candidate is a pure enough leftist. It's projection, most likely.

If you browse enough right-leaning places, you'll see the same behavior. It is honestly how we've gotten so polarized.
I was going to say: I remember plenty of people on this site saying that the reason why Republicans don't win is because they don't run candidates who are conservative enough.

So, yeah, both sides are all about doubling down on the extreme edges of their parties.

I agree, working people do not suffer the lazy...the problem is the growing numbers of voters that feel they are simply entitled. I know the word is over used, but that's it in a nutshell. The Gov't loves the entitled, and no one is better at dangling the carrot.
