Recently tried the 77 TMKs. A mere 22.8 of varget was a compressed load, avg MV of 2612 out of an 18" barrel, and it was showing signs of overpressure. Not really happy with that performance. Not sure if I can push them as quickly as the 77 SMK. They are just so long there is not much case capacity left. Guessing I need to drop the varget for something else.

Are the shorter 69 TMKs able to be pushed as hard as their SMK cousin?

I haven't chrono'd it yet but I recently ran a pretty stiff 69gr TMK load over XBR. I'll try to come back with info later.

We get the same velocity with h322 because it doesn't gobble up case volume. However, if velocity was my goal, I'd be running TAC.

    Why don't you use TAC?

We only loaded 100 tmk. It's not our go to bullet. If I were to come up with a full time load, I'd break out TAC.

Also, we were after a direct comparison against 77 otms to see the bc gain.

23.5gr* of IMR XBR in LC Brass to Magazine Length with a CCI SR Magnum primer. It is a literal laser beam and I have shot 8" gongs in tropical storm force winds pretty easily with it. I've also got a sub-MOA 3 shot group at 1,000 yards using that load (which is bs, but the guys at Sierra were impressed) I'm not sure why Mark doesn't like that bullet considering he takes his .223s out pretty far too. It is an absolute game changer when you get >800 yards.

It's ok if you don't believe me. I don't let that kind of thing bother me anymore

*This is over max and I do not recommend you do this out of your rifle. I am only posting what load I use and my results with no suggestion on my part whatsoever.

I like the bullet. I, however, have not had them match otm accuracy. And nosler cc 77s are wildly cheaper.

The 77 5.56mm black hills load is the only 22 cal. Round we've gotten a confirmed hit with at 1300 yards.

I'm just getting around to reloading as I'm coming to the end of some MK262 I was given many moons ago. a couple questions, if you don't mind -

is the 77grSMK still the bullet to use?

what's a good starting load that seems to work in most barrels?

if it matters, I'm shooting a 16" BCM ss410 barrel in MUR receiver, blah, blah, blah...

77 smk or nosler cc. Both shoot equally accurate.

And TMK's if you want the extra milage. Its Just the extra coinage too. But who's counting $$$ anyway.
