Eclipse In Your Area? Plans?

Getting ready for eclipse to hit in an about an hr. here in northern UT. Taking self and auto welding helmet to wife's work so we can watch. Can hit 13 on the auto helmet so all good; also instant dim. Did some welding in college while working for John Deere so not a novice on helmet use.

Hope everyone interested gets a good look. Celestial phenomena fascinate me.

We are about a quarter here, going to be 94% at it's zenith.

About 130 north west in a little town, Hubbel NE, it will be 100%.

I was going to ride up there but it was raining this morning and I'm a sissy.

I've got my welding helmet out and checking it every 10 minutes or so.

We will only get about 72% here. I got my glasses, periodically going outside lol like a tool. It started here about 14 minutes ago. Maximum should be in an hour or so. I have to say, it's kinda cool.

How do you get your helmet to darken? Mine isn't doing it the couple times I tried, even with sensitivity all the way up.

We were fairly close to the area with a total eclipse. I walked out of work for a few minutes with some other employees to take turns using some glasses. It was neat to see, now I'm back inside.

How do you get your helmet to darken? Mine isn't doing it the couple times I tried, even with sensitivity all the way up.

I use buttons to set the dim amount and when exposed to light, the auto dim feature takes it to selected level. Can be instant or delayed, Obviously instant today. Hopefully your helmet isn't malfunctioning.


We just past the totality for us(94%); pretty cool! Temp dropped by about 5-7 degrees easily, if not more. The semi-darkness and the shadows were neat to observe.

Wife's office had damn near everyone outside; including patients with IV's!
