Just a dumb question I've been hesitating to ask. Now that I have an AK and a loooong unopened Dillion 550 progressive press...

Too slow. Its a .308Win bullet designed to do its thing at a higher velocity than 7.62x39 can achieve. The Wolf Perfromance 154gr JSP has the same issue, its a 7.62x54 bullet stuffed into a x39 case. Its like ze goggles, it does nothing.

Check some late-model reloading manuals, especially if Hornady happens to publish one (I don't know if they do but you can look) and see if the 155 AMAX has any published loads in 762x39. If not, chances are it's a bad idea. You wanna shoot 155 AMAX, it's a great excuse to buy a .308 something, maybe a bolt rifle for longer-than-AK distances. It's the next best thing to being there.

Ah nvm. I'll just build up my FAL or M14 receiver to take advantage of this bullet.

Graf's sells a 123gr V-max bullet. It has the correct .310 diameter. I just read

on another board Graf's is discontinuing them. If you want some, hurry.

There is also loaded ammo with that bullet for $12.99 a box.

BINGO! The Ruger Mini-30 is the only .308 bored 7.62x39 I know of, unless they changed.
